Valhalla's track team participated in the meet in New York City on Sunday, Feb. 22. The highlight of the meet was Bespolka's efforts as she jumped a personal best in the Triple Jump to earn third place overall (Class AA, A, B and C). She is the first indoor track athlete to represent Valhalla at the state meet in three years.

"Olivia has worked hard all season and we are all so proud of her," said coach Richard O'Riley.

The state meet will be held on Saturday, March 7 at Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y. Bespolka's school-based record-breaking mark of 36 feet, 7.25 inches is nearly five feet further than what she jumped last season.

Among her other accomplishments throughout the season, she was both the League Champion in three jumping events and the Section 1 Class C Champion in two jumping events.
