Westchester Community College Plans New Film Series

VALHALLA, N.Y. -- Westchester Community College is presenting a new film series in the Gateway Center on the Valhalla campus. The series begins in January.

Free screenings, open to the public, will take place at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. in Gateway’s Davis Auditorium.

Here are the films scheduled: 

"Papers" (Jan. 28): There are approximately two million undocumented children born outside the U.S. and raised in this country. This is the story of the challenges they face.

"Red Like The Sky" (Feb. 25):  A nearly sightless boy is sent to a school for blind children where he secretly discovers the possibilities of recorded sound.

"Crossing Over" (March 25): Immigrants struggle to achieve legal status in Los Angeles.

"Paper Clips"  (April 29): This documentary reveals how students from a small town school start working on a history assignment that snowballs into a touching Holocaust memorial, gaining world-wide attention.

Gateway is helping to address the educational and cultural needs of the county’s increasingly diverse population.

The Gateway Center houses business, language, volunteer, and international student programs, as well as the college’s English Language Institute and the Professional Development Center, which offers corporate training.
