Westchester High Schools Usher In 2015-16 School Year

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- It was opening day of the new school year at most high schools in Westchester on Wednesday.

Many districts grapple with how to ensure hundreds to thousands of students get home safely with all means of transportation factored in.

"We work closely with police, security, staff and faculty," Peekskill Superintendent David Fine said. "Safety is paramount. We want to create a secure and safe environment to get to and from our schools."
