THORNWOOD, N.Y. – Progress on the Westlake High School's new bleachers can be seen, and Superintendent Susan Guiney said the anticipated completion date is Oct. 20, the day of Westlake’s homecoming football game in Thornwood.

“We would obviously like to have the bleachers now but our parents and fans have made due with blankets and chairs on the hill adjacent to the field,” Guiney said. “We’re very excited to see the completed project.”

Workers have laid down the structure for the new set of stairs that will run from the parking lot alongside the bleachers and the hill in which the bleachers will be place on has been excavated.

Last Saturday, the Westlake football team played its home opener against Roosevelt High School, winning 47-12.

The homecoming game Oct. 20 is against Irvington and is scheduled for a 2:30 p.m. start.
