MOUNT PLEASANT, N.Y. -- Halloween may be long past, but thanks to one student council, the sugary holiday will benefit students at Westlake Middle School throughout the year.
The school's inaugural "Trunk or Treat" event raised $300 for student council activities, according to a post on the school district's Facebook page .
The Oct. 30 event, which featured 25 cars, each with meticulously decorated trunks, was open to trick-or-treaters, according to the post.
The district offered a "thank you," to those community members who attended the event and contributed to the council.
