Dolan pitches Kensico to 2-1 win in softball

BEEKMAN, NY -- Alyssa Dolan tossed a four-hitter and struck out four Wednesday as Kensico defeated Poughkeepsie, 2-1, in a Section 4 Little League Majors’ Softball losers’ bracket game at Beekman Little League.

Kensico will play Brewster (District 33) in the loser’s bracket final, Thursday, 6 p.m. The winner advances to the Section 4 final against New City (District 18), Saturday, 8 p.m. Either Kensico or Brewster will have to beat New City, Saturday, to force a decisive game Sunday, also 8 p.m.

Kaylie Dymek gave Kensico a 1-0 lead in the third inning with a two-out single, scoring Emily Bisesto. Kensico extended its lead to 2-0 in the fourth inning when Alyssa Giordano scored on a Lauren Manuele groundout. Kensico manager Tony Rizzuto credited his team with an excellent defensive game. He also cited Dolan’s defense, with one putout and five assists.
