Hudson Valley Product Tyler Lydon Big Part Of Syracuse's Sweet 16 Run

PINE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Stissing Mountain High School graduate Tyler Lydon and his teammates at Syracuse University have journeyed to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament.

The 10th-seeded Syracuse defeated Middle Tennessee 75-50 on Sunday to move on to March Madness' Sweet 16 after beating seventh-seeded Dayton in the first round.

Dayton had defeated Syracuse in its previous NCAA Tournament game, in 2014.

Lydon scored 14 points, seven rebounds and six blocks in the match against Middle Tennessee.

Syracuse will play Gonzaga in the Midwest semifinals on Friday. 

Stissing Mountain HS is in the Pine Plains Central School District.

Lydon's mother played basketball at Dutchess Community College.
