Board of trustee members and benefactors, as well as faculty, administrators, and students were on hand July 14 for a ground-breaking ceremony at the high school located at 54 Route 138, Somers, N.Y.

Kennedy High hopes to have a ribbon-cutting ceremony in early October after construction concludes in September.

Construction crews will strip the current track surface and convert it from 440 yards to a National Federation of State High School Association-approved 400-meter course. Other renovations include improvements to the triple jump, pole vault, and shot put venues.

Kennedy Catholic has partnered with The LandTek Group, Inc., of Amityville, N.Y. to complete the project.
