More than 300 people were registered for Mount Kisco's 5K, according to Lisa Abzun, a co-director for the event.

Abzun, who described the turnout as "tremendous," mentioned that 300 people had pre-registered and around 60 did so on the day of the race. Demand was so high that it exceeded the number of bibs allotted, according to Abzun, who explained that more were needed.

The inaugural race, started and ended at Kirby Plaza, Abuzn explained, and included Lexington Avenue and Radio Circule.

Abzun, a Mount Kisco resident, mentioned that she was one of three directors. The others, who are also Mount Kisco residents, are Eileen Polese and Kathy Lynch.

The 5K included had an array of local sponsors. Organizations listed include Northern Westchester Hospital, Saw Mill Club, MTK Tavern, Little Crepe Street, Little Kabab Station, Fox Lane Youth Lacrosse, Tommie Copper and CrossFit Mount Kisco. A total of 40 Northern Westchester Hospital employees participated in the 5K.

The full list of sponsors is available here.

Kevin Kane, who is Saw Mill Club's vice president and general manager, said Saw Mill signed on as lead sponsor because it thought that Mount Kisco should have a race, noting that other towns have it.

Kane, who is also president of the Mount Kisco Chamber of Commerce, discussed a training program that the club held in preparation for the 5K. It was led by Kathleen Goldbring, a group exercise and yoga instructor at the club, and involved sessions during the summer for kids.

Results show that the first-place finisher was  Tim Kuklis, a 32-year-old Mount Kisco resident.

The 5K results are available on the event's website.
