According to coach Blaise Ciliberti, the 6-0 Lions, who hail from Hawthorne, Thornwood, Valhalla and Pleasantville, have grown up together on the soccer field and compiled a four-year record of 17-10-6 together over spring fall outdoors, and winter indoor seasons.
"We have a wonderful team of boys that have mainly played together since kindergarten," Ciliberti said. " With a win on Sunday, the Lions will accomplish an undefeated spring season. We have beaten teams from Edgemont, Larchmont, and Pelham.
The mighty Lions won several tournaments and titles along the way, including the Marlboro Tournament (Silver Medal) Marlboro in 2012 and the Armonk Winter Indoor League (Bronze Medal) in 2014.
"The boys have traveled from Manhattan to as far Marlboro (in Ulster County)," Ciliberti said. "We have had signature victories over Port Chester, White Plains, Scarsdale, Mamaroneck, Rye, and Edgemont since 2011.
The volunteer coaching staff of Ciliberti (Manhattanville College soccer Class of 1996), Mike Williams (Westlake High School Class of 1992), and John Bishkoff (Alexander Hamilton High School Class of 1986) bring years of soccer experience to the team and help with financial support.
"Our goal is to raise funds for a 2017 trip to Italy and Greece for various youth soccer tournaments," Ciliberti said.
The Lions soccer team members are Vangelis Bishkoff, Thomas Cahill, Robert Ciliberti, Christian Knapp, Marc Maladruccolo, Jack Neglia, Luka Pandzic, William Peacock, Mark Theriault and Christopher Williams.
