VALHALLA,, N.Y. -- Following a rough loss to Woodlands last week, there is one place for the Valhalla varsity football team to go -- up.

The Vikings have field the Woodlands’ game behind them and are prepared to tackle Briarcliff at 7 p.m. Friday and even their record at 2-2.

“First of all the Woodlands game was one that we knew would be tough, but we were looking forward to it,” Valhalla coach Kevin Martins said. “I think it was an opportunity to see how we would measure up to the top of the class. Unfortunately, the final score would say we have no business being there, but we did some things well.”

Valhalla built on the positives this week resulting in what Martins felt were good practices.

“The team is focused and there is a sense of urgency to go get a win,” Martins said.

Briarcliff enters the game with a 2-1 record, after a 13-10 victory over John F. Kennedy last week.

“The coaching staff at Briarcliff is one of my biggest concerns,” Martins said. “John Consorti and his staff know what they’re doing and he does a great job of putting his players in position to make plays.”
