In the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Class A quarterfinals, Section 1 champion Rye meets Section 9 champion Cornwall on Saturday at Mahopac High School. Kickoff is at 1 p.m.

In Class C, Woodlands meets Millbrook at 3:30 p.m. at Mahopac, while Tuckahoe tackles Chester at 3 p.m. at Dietz Stadium in Kingston.

In the Catholic League playoffs, Archbishop Stepinac hosts St. Peter’s on 1 p.m. on Saturday while Iona Prep travels to meet St. Anthony’s at 2:30 p.m.

Rye (9-1), which won consecutive Class B titles in 2007-08, aims to take the first step on the state playoff road against Cornwall. The Garnets thumped Yorktown, 35-14, for the Section 1 title. Their only loss came in a 38-36 setback to Scarsdale. Quarterback Andrew Livingston, who will attend Brown University, set the Section 1 record for career passing yards in the win over Yorktown.

Cornwall (10-0), from New Windsor, crushed Port Jervis, 40-0, for the Section 9 title. The Dragons have not surrendered more than one touchdown in any game this season and are led by running back Kevin Gangemi (1,029 yards, 13 touchdowns). They also have a top-flight quarterback, Jason Bailey, who has thrown 27 touchdowns and is second in the state with 2,169 yards passing, accroding to statistics by MaxPreps.

Woodlands (4-4) peaked at the right time. The Falcons from Hartsdale beat Bronxville and Rye Neck in the Section 1 tournament. Millbrook (7-2) defeated Sullivan West for the Section 9 title, 24-0. Sophomore running back Delvin Wood has rushed for 1,435 yards and 20 touchdowns.

Tuckahoe (6-3) routed Haldane, 40-0, for the Section 1 title. The Tigers, who won state titles in 2006 and 2010, lost to Chester in last year’s state quarterfinals, 26-21. The Hambletonians (8-2) crushed Livingston Manor, 55-0, for the Section 9 title and have scored 50 or more points in five straight games. The Tigers are paced by a ground game led by Anthony Castracucco and Enoch Penneylaryea, who have combined for more than 2,100 yards and 25 touchdowns.

Archbishop Stepinac (10-0), ranked third in the state by MaxPreps, is seeking its first league title since 2010. The Crusaders have steamrolled every opponent, outscoring rivals 427-105. Malcolm Major and Tyquan Ennis lead a balanced running attack while quarterback Brandon Coleman has thrown 11 touchdowns and just two interceptions. Stepinac’s offense will be tested by a St. Peter’s defense that has allowed more than one touchdown just once all season. The Eagles (9-0), from Staten Island, are ranked No. 20 in the state by MaxPreps.

Iona Prep (8-2) meets St. Anthony’s for the second time this season. The Gaels beat the team from Melville, 40-30, on Oct.12. St. Anthony’s (7-3) could not contain Iona Prep quarterback Robert Madison, who threw for 400 yards and five touchdowns in that game. Madison has thrown for 1,888 yards in just eight games this season. He missed two games at the start of the season with an injury.
