PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. The Mount Pleasant rivalry in girls soccer between Pleasantville and Westlake High School will have to wait until next time as the two teams played to a 1-1 tie Thursday afternoon at Pleasantville High School.
The Panthers from Pleasantville got on the board first with a goal from Julia Eisenberg, assisted from Patricia Garibaldi. After Pleasantville was awarded a free kick deep in the Westlake zone, Garibaldi sent a ball into box that bounced around before finding the foot of Eisenberg, which she buried in the back of the net.
Pleasantville seemed to have the game locked up as they held their 1-0 lead for most of the contest. However, Westlake's Kathleen Farrell headed in the tying goal with only a few minutes remaining in regulation.
Both teams battled it out in an overtime period to no avail and the game ended in a 1-1 tie. These two local rivals played once earlier this season, with Pleasantville taking a 1-0 victory.
