Westlake High School Athletic Teams Named Section 1 Scholar Athletes

MOUNT PLEASANT, N.Y. -- The Westlake High School Athletic Department has announced the following fall Section 1 scholar-athlete teams: cross country, football, girls soccer, girls swim/dive, girls tennis and volleyball.

Six Westlake High School teams were named Section 1 scholar-athletes for their above average academics.

To be named a Section 1 scholar-athlete team, the members must have a collective academic average of 90 or above. Westlake’s boys soccer team just missed the distinction with a combined team average of 89.5.

The teams were honored at the Board of Education meeting and presented with Scholar-Athlete certificates by Athletic Director Donna Pirro and Schools Superintendent Susan Guiney on Wednesday, Jan. 21.
