There is residual traffic on the southbound (Westchester-bound) new Tappan Zee Bridge span after two lanes reopened following a late Thursday afternoon crash.
The crash occurred midspan shortly before 4 p.m., initially shutting down the two lanes and backing up traffic well into Rockland County, officials said.
State police are on scene investigating the crash.
The Thruway Authority is asking motorists to avoid the area by using alternate routes if possible.
