MOUNT PLEASANT, N.Y. – Drivers who use the Sprain Brook Parkway as they pass through Mount Pleasant are being warned about upcoming closures.

According to state Department of Transportation spokeswoman Gina DiSarro, all lanes on both the north and south sides of the highway, between Route 100 (Grasslands Road) in Valhalla and the Taconic State Parkway/Saw Mill River Parkway in Mount Pleasant, will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly starting on Tuesday, Feb. 21, and running through Thursday, Feb. 23.

Weather permitting, a utility company will be preforming maintenance work. DOT crews are not involved in the work, DiSarro said.

If the weather doesn’t cooperate, she added, the work will be rescheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 28, through Thursday, March 2.

Single-lane closures may occur while crews set up the work zones, she added.

Motorists should follow the signed detour, and prepare for delays.

They are also being asked to use caution when traveling through work zone areas and to pay particular attention to all traffic control devices, including signs and flaggers.

Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone, DiSarro said.

In accordance with the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005, convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver license.
