Test pits have been dug and initial testing has confirmed that gas mains have deteriorated and need to be replaced, Zegarelli said in his latest report.

The village is ready to give the go-ahead to extended work hours during the day and overnight, he said.

The village is asking motorists to prepare for potential delays and shifts in traffic patterns.

Zegarelli also reported that hydrant flushing will continue until Friday, from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Areas affected are: Pleasantville Road from South State Road to the High School, including Buckhout Road, Dogwood Lane, Stephenson Terrace, Round Hill Drive, Woodfield Road, Horsechestnut Road, Ingham Road, Simpson Road, Jackson Road, Valentine Road, Oak Road, Ash Road, Zuydhoek Road, Larch Road, Sleepy Hollow Road from Long Hill Road south to the village line, and side streets including Hall Road, Chestnut Hill Lane, Peachtree Lane, Old Sleepy Hollow Road, and Hollow Tree Road.

Residents of these areas can expect discolored water at any time, but especially during the day from 9 .m. to 5 p.m.

Continued testing has shown, Zegarelli said, that the water does not contain any harmful bacteria.
