Addimando flagged down a patrol officer around 2:16 a.m.Thursday morning and told them she had been "involved in an incident with her boyfriend," said the Town of Poughkeepsie Police.

Officers checked on Grover's welfare and found him dead at their residence, Capt. Ken Roman said.

The couple with two children lived in the Dutchess Apartments complex on Van Wagner Road.

People who know the young stay-at-home mother said it was so out of character for her to have shot her boyfriend.

"She was an amazing mom and nice person," said friend Lisa Rosten. "Her children were everything to her, she was a very hand's-on mother."

A 2006 graduate of Red Hook High School, Grover, 30, was the head coach at Mr. Todd's Gymnastics located in Poughkeepsie for many years and previously worked at Fly High Gymnastics in Red Hook.

On its Facebook page, the gym said Monday it would be close early Tuesday to "allow our staff, families, and friends to attend the services for Coach Chris."

Addimando, 29, who is being represented by local attorney Anthony DeFazio, has been charged with second-degree murder. She is being held without bond at the Dutchess County Jail.
