The cause of the leak still is unknown, although officials have narrowed the failure to one section of a pipe that broke, Adam Bosch, a spokesman for the New York City Department of Environmental Protection, which operates the plant, told LoHud.com.
Chlorination operations resumed shortly before 5 p.m., Saturday after crews spent much of the day replacing equipment, including the plant’s alarm sensors, which became waterlogged due to the leak, and testing all of the plant’s systems, Bosch told LoHud.com.
