Road Paving Tops Briarcliff Village Manager's Report

BRIACLIFF MANOR, N.Y. -- Village Manager Philip Zegarelli said the upcoming road paving projects in various areas in Briarcliff are already under way, but due to weather, the Village does not have a day-to-day schedule at this time.

These are the roads to be paved : Scarborough Road from Becker Lane to the Fire House; Central Drive between Pleasantville to Old Briarcliff Roads; and the “loop” around the Union Hall; Old Briarcliff Road from Scarborough Road to Central Drive; Larch Road from Pleasantville Road to the cul-de-sac. Jackson Road between Simpson to Zuydhoek Roads Simpson Road between Larch to Jackson Roads Dogwood Lane and Dogwood Close to the TMP Line.

"This year's paving work entails a total of 14,400 feet (almost 2.75 miles of our 40 miles of VBM roads). In the case of the rest of Scarborough Road from the Scarborough Fire House to about Ridgecrest Road and beyond, we are reserving funds to complete that stretch depending on how well the recent Con Ed gas main work and road settling pans out," Zegarelli said. "Con Ed twill take part in entire repaving of that portion of Scarborough Road whether in late Fall or early Spring instead of them just repaving the more narrow disturbed section"

-- From Village Hall: The County’s Mobile shredder is returning to Briarcliff Manor on Ocdt. 31 from 10:00 a.m. to 1 p.m. The shredder will be stationed near the front of the Youth Center, 5 Van Lu Van Road. Residents can bring up to 4 file-size (10 inches by 12 inches by 15 inches) boxes of confidential papers per household. Please remove all large binder clips and covers. This is for the disposal of personal household papers.

-- Recreation and Parks: The Recreation Department’s Fall Brochure is available for viewing on-line at www.briarcliffmanor.org. Most programs begin next week, registration is currently under way. If you do not have access to a computer you may pick up a printed copy of the brochure at the Recreation Office or call 914-941-6560 to have a copy mailed to you.

-- Library and Community Center. The Middle School Parent-Child Book Discussion will be at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 28. Children in grades 6, 7 and 8 and their parents are welcome to join us to discuss "Mockingbird" by Kathryn Erskine. To register, please email Amy Kaplan at abgkaplan@gmail.com. The meeting will be held at Briarcliff Middle School Library.

-- Police/Court/Fire + Ambulance: Schools are open. Drivers are reminded that they MUST stop for school buses when the school bus red lights are activated and flashing.
