MOUNT PLEASANT, N.Y. Anthony Gisondi Jr., formerly of Thornwood and Valhalla, died July 3. He was 80.
He was born Feb. 23, 1932, in White Plains to Anthony and Grace Abasscia Gisondi. He attended White Plains Public Schools. Gisondi served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
A self-employed painting contractor, he worked throughout Westchester County. Most recently of Boynton Beach, Fla., Gisondi loved baseball and was an avid golfer. He was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Gisondi is survived by his wife, Mary Carlo Gisondi, of Boynton Beach, Fla.; two sons, Tony (Karen) Gisondi, of Hawthorne, and David (Elizabeth) Gisondi, of Delray Beach, Fla.; two brothers, Peter (Francis) Gisondi and Mauro (Jenny) Gisondi, both of Harrison; a sister, Isabelle Garzia, of Croton-on-Hudson; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three sisters, Julie Delfino, Antoinette "Nini" Sputo and Mary Libertella.
Calling hours are from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Hawthorne Funeral Home . A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Rosary Church in Hawthorne. Burial will follow at Ferncliff Mausoleum in Hartsdale.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
