Donald J. MacDonald, 84, Of Valhalla

MOUNT PLEASANT, N.Y. -- Donald J. MacDonald of Valhalla died on Wednesday, April 27. He was 84.

He was born on Nov. 22, 1931, to Michael and Martha MacDonald in the Bronx. He was a graduate of St. Francis Xavier University in Nova Scotia, Canada, and received a master's degree from Hunter College in New York City and also received a professional degree from Fordham University in The Bronx.

MacDonald was a retired supervisor for the New York City Board of Education. 

He is survived by his wife, Patricia MacDonald; his children, Maura (John) McDonagh of Bronxville, and Robert (Lori) MacDonald of Cortlandt Manor; and five grandchildren, Caitlin and Meghan McDonagh and Emily, Sarah and Jenna MacDonald. 

His brother, John MacDonald, died in 1980. 

Visitation will be at Hawthorne Funeral Home on Friday, April 29, from 5 to 9 p.m. 

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Name of Jesus Church in Valhalla on Saturday, April 30, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne.
