Village Manager Phil Zegarelli said there is still an investigation into the origin, cause and who might be involved in the fire.

"In the meantime, the mayor, board and residents are quite focused on wanting to see the pool pavilion up and running as soon as possible," Zegarelli said.

Zegarelli said they hope to get the pool up and running, along with the office space below the pavilion cleaned and rehabbed. While there wasn't much damage to the office space, the cover on the pool was burned to the water line.

"We're going in many different aspects," Zegarelli said. "We've been contacting architects and seeing what can be done to redo it.  We've done a cursory preliminary review of the property."

Some of the stone facing might have to be replaced and removed while the concrete core should be okay, Zegarelli said.

"We hope to come up with answers as quickly as possible so we can plan for any replacements in an updated revised manner," Zegarelli said.  "We want to hit the ground running to have it replaced."

Zegarelli called the fire an "emotionally gutting incident" for the Village of Briarcliff.

"This is the focal point of the village, it's the centerpiece," Zegarelli said. "It's very important that we address this quickly."
