Two Face Drug Charges After Taconic Parkway Crash In Mount Pleasant

MOUNT PLEASANT, N.Y. – Two local men are facing charges after police said they found drugs on both following a one-car accident on the Taconic State Parkway in Mount Pleasant on Tuesday.

Santino J. Campanaro, 24, of Yonkers, was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, criminal possession of a controlled substance and possession of a hypodermic instrument, after New York State troopers from the Hawthorne barracks responded to the accident.

Upon arrival, state police said they found a Lincoln Aviator stopped in the roadway. Before conducting the crash investigation, troopers discovered that Campanaro was in possession of heroin and a syringe at the time of the crash, police said.

A passenger in the vehicle, Justin Zambardino, 26, of Wappinger, was charged with criminal possession of heroin and possession of a hypodermic instrument, police said.

Both are scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 8.
