The tweet, written by incumbent Rob Astorino and his campaign staff to more than 1,000 followers, shows a video of New Rochelle residents speaking out against opponent and mayor of New Rochelle, Noam Bramson.
Entitled, "Westchester Can't Afford Noam Bramson," the video was accompanied by a short statement from Astorino, saying, "My opponent has run negative campaign, calling me names, distorting my record."
William O'Reilly, spokesperson for Astorino's campaign, said New Rochelle residents were filmed in the ad to warn Westchester voters about Bramson's, "outrageous behavior as mayor."
"While raising everyone's else's taxes and fees, Mr. Bramson has given himself a 40 percent pay hike, a free car, and healthcare for life -- as a part time mayor. He has cut police officers, firefighters and other essential personnel. This is exactly the kind of behavior that has made people lose faith in their elected leaders."
Barry Caro, spokesperson for Noam Bramson's campaign, told The Daily Voice that he believes New Rochelle, as a whole, supports Bramson.
"If only New Rochelle residents could vote in this November's election, Noam Bramson would win in a landslide. Two years ago, Noam received nearly 80-percent of the vote in New Rochelle in his reelection campaign - the most ever," he said. "He also received nearly twice as many votes for Mayor as Rob Astorino did for County Executive."
"That incredible showing is a testament to Noam's strong record of sound fiscal leadership and smart economic development, and it's exactly why we sincerely hope everybody in Westchester follows Astorino's advice and follows the lead of their neighbors in New Rochelle this November," he said.
Bramson and his staff have not replied to the post on their Twitter account.
