Furniture Sharehouse Gala Will Help Turn Houses Into Homes

Furniture Sharehouse, a local non-profit whose mission is to provide basic household furnishings free of charge for Westchester individuals and families in need is hosting its “Home for the Holidays” Gala on November 2, 2018, at the Renaissance Hotel in West Harrison. All money raised will go towards the organization’s core mission.

Furniture Sharehouse was founded on the premise that no child should have to sleep on the floor, no family shouldn’t have at least a table and chairs to sit and share a meal. Yet many in our County can’t afford even the most essential furnishings after paying for rent and food. Furniture Sharehouse strives to make it possible for these families to rebuild their lives with dignity.

A highlight of the Gala will be the silent auction featuring an array of designer vignettes. Using donated or inexpensively purchased items including furniture and accessories, a host of local designers have put together room vignettes which will be on display at the Gala. Attendees are encouraged to bid on items in the vignettes, as well as buy-it-now pieces from a special boutique area. The timing of the Gala makes it perfect for picking up special holiday gifts or getting your home ready for the season.

ERA Insite Realty is one of the sponsors of the Gala, along with the Hudson Gateway Realtor Foundation and other major donors and corporate supporters. Debra Budetti, co-founder and owner of ERA Insite, as well as Gail Fattizzi, regional manager for the company, are both also part of a newly formed Realtor Advisory Board for Furniture Sharehouse. Realtors are in a unique position to get the word out about furniture donations to the Sharehouse since they are routinely in contact with homeowners who are downsizing, renovating or moving out of the area. Furniture Sharehouse accepts donations of gently used apartment-sized furnishings, including beds and mattresses. The Realtor Advisory Board will collaborate and strategize on ways to get the word out to more potential donors and otherwise support Furniture Sharehouse’s mission.

Tickets to the gala are still available at the organization’s website, www.furnituresharehouse.org, and include dinner, open bar and dessert. Information on donating and volunteering can also be found on the site.
