Student Life Coordinator Kristin Spillane was hired for the newly created position of outreach counselor for students in 2014, but could soon see her position eliminated, according to The Examiner, which said that more than 30 students at a recent school board meeting “confronted trustees over rampant speculation” of Spillane’s departure.

Though it was not yet clear why the district was considering the elimination of Spillane’s position, the counselor was allegedly notified of the situation via a memo, according to The Examiner.

Horace Greeley Principal Robert Rhodes said more information about the situation would be available during the school board meeting scheduled for March 1, according to The Examiner, which said that an initial proposal for next year’s schools budget would be discussed at that time.
