Dear Parents and Guardians,

I would like to take this opportunity to inform you that Hawthorne Elementary School Principal Jerry Schulman has announced his retirement from the Mount Pleasant Central School District on Aug. 1 of this year.

Mr. Schulman has been part of our district family for 23 years and has served as assistant principal of Westlake High School, principal of Westlake Middle School and, for the past four years, as principal of Hawthorne Elementary School.

Mr. Schulman has brought a smile and generous spirit to the building and he will be missed by our administrative team, the teachers, staff, parents, and especially the children who love to wave and high-five him any time they see him around Hawthorne Elementary.

During the next few weeks, the district will post for the position of Hawthorne Elementary School principal and a search committee will be formed to help in securing a successor.

Additional information will be forthcoming as the process develops.

While we are saddened to lose such a veteran administrator and kind colleague, we wish Mr. Schulman the very best in his retirement.

Please join me in congratulating Jerry Schulman and extending our best wishes to him and his family in this next chapter of his life.

Regards,

Dr. Susan Guiney

Superintendent of Schools
