MOUNT PLEASANT, N.Y. – The Valhalla High School Academic Challenge Team finished with a 3-3 record in the national competition held May 29-31 in Washington, D.C.

The six-student team consisted of seniors Dylan Weil, the team’s captain, Steven Carpenter and Carl Bespolka, and juniors John Philip, Sabrina Bellantoni and Pearse Callaghan.

"They were fantastic," said Valhalla High School Principal Jon Thomas.

They competed against a variety of teams, including some from New York, Pennsylvania and Texas. This was the first time in six years that Valhalla High School had competed at the national competition; it qualified in 2014, but could not make the trip.
