The group participated in an outdoor adventure at Green Chimneys in Southeast that concentrated on team-building activities. In the Partners' Program, led by Valhalla Middle/High School Assistant Principal Kevin McLeod, each student is partnered with a staff member.

The program was created as a mentorship initiative in 2010 to foster strong relationships between students and adults. If a student needs help -- academically, socially or emotionally -- they have an established relationship with a teacher who they already know and trust, according to the program's creators.

The student-staff teams meet for a half-hour every week. A few times per year, the program holds special events, such as the Pumpkin Extravaganza in October or the Winter Extravaganza in December.

Last year, the group traveled to a sporting event at Madison Square Garden.
