Pleasantville Symposium Focuses On Sports Injuries

PLEASATNVILLE, N.Y. -- ProClinix Sports Physical Therapy & Chiropractic has partnered with Pleasantville schools and will host a sports injury symposium, "Injury Action Plan for Parents of an Athlete," on Monday, March 7, in the Pleasantville High School auditorium.

Dr. Kristin Roye, physician for Pleasantville schools and a pediatrician at Briarcliff Pediatric Associates, will be one of the expert panelists at the sports injury symposium at Pleasantville High School on March 7.

The evening will include Pleasantville Schools Superintendent Mary Fox-Alter and Athletic Director John Bauerlein introducing a panel of health care experts who will discuss a variety of topics about youth sports. For example, why are there increasing occurrences of injuries within youth sports? What is the importance of having an action plan for when an injury does occur? What advice do experts have for how to manage injuries when they do occur?

Health care experts on the panel will include: Dr. Kristin Roye (physician for Pleasantville schools/pediatrician at Briarcliff Pediatric Associates); Dr. Doron Ilan (orthopedic surgeon at Premier Orthopaedics Westchester & Rockland); Dr. Demetris Delos (orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist at Orthopaedic & Neurosurgery Specialists); Dr. Alex Diaz (sports psychologist, Sports Mental Edge); Dr. Brian Dombal (physical therapist, ProClinix Sports Physical Therapy & Chiropractic); and Justen Lopez (certified athletic trainer, Pleasantville High School).

A donation will be made by ProClinix Sports Physical Therapy & Chiropractic to the Community Scholarship Fund of Pleasantville on behalf of every attendee to this event. The event is free to attend, and light refreshments will be provided.
